DevOps & SRE Jobs in Ireland: 2026 Hiring Trends, Salaries and In-Demand Skills
From the perspective of a DevOps/SRE recruiter in Ireland, 2026 is certainly busy but more selective. DevOps engineers hiring is active but companies are moving more slowly than in recent years. Their Platform Engineering teams are stable in general, despite ongoing expectations to continue to automate and secure which is leading to this slower pace of hiring. The good news is that investment from corporate level in Cloud, Cybersecurity and of course AI are relatively safe bets despite less focus in other areas.
Market Demand
Here’s what’s driving DevOps and Cloud engineer jobs in Ireland right now across our three main areas:
Kubernetes/Cloud Native
- A theme across AWS, GCP and Azure providers is competence in Landing Zones, Cloud regulation knowledge with an expectation of strength in Kubernetes, Terraform and GitOps for candidates.
SRE
- No surprise that demand for Site Reliability Engineers is consistent, no longer the preserve of massive platforms, more SMEs are leaning on Production Readiness and availability, notably within those with significant regulatory responsibility (be it Financial Services, Gaming, MedTech etc.)
DevSecOps
- If there is a specific area that’s growing at a faster rate than previously it’s Automation within Cloud Security or DevSecOps. With an uptick in AI driven fraud and related risk, many firms are refocusing on policy-as-code, secrets management and greater awareness of cloud posture.
- We see and predict ongoing stable to rising demand in Observability, FinOps related DevOps and definite increase in hybrid Data/DevOps across MLOps within real-time platforms.
In Demand Candidate Experience
The candidate experience that gets most traction and interest from our client base includes;
Depth of Cloud Experience
- Often multiple cloud knowledge can be advantageous but as the market is reasonably mature now, clients expect depth in their chosen provider, Certifications are never a bad idea, but strong knowledge within production workloads is more valuable.
K8S/Container Knowledge
- Demonstrating you can build and run clusters, not just deploying same
IAC
- Scaled experience within Terraform/CloudFormation, Helm with strategic understanding
CI/CD
- Ownership of pipelines rather than purely executing, depth in GitHub/Jenkins and how they relate to QA, Security, Deployment
Security
- May go without saying but demonstrating least-privilege IAM exposure, Secrets Management, OWASP basics at least
SRE Mindset
- Consideration of budgeting, planning (for capacity and related areas), incident management beyond simply being “on”
DevOps & SRE Salaries in Ireland 2026
- Qualifications and Certifications are still the first step into the Platform Engineering world, but as you progress, being able to demonstrate real world understanding and impact is more valuable to employers. This is the difference between a mid level engineer earning between €60-80kpa on base and those that are in the €80-120kpa+ level.
AI Ops
- Already this concept has gone beyond “vendor slideware”, globally this market is growing fast so moving towards tools that utilise Machine Learning to metrics, logs, events is happening.
- What does this mean? – Less raw dashboard trawling, more signal tuning and runbook building, Incidents being handled at first pass through Alert Correlation and Anomaly Detection, Automated Remediation on well-understood failure modes
- More broadly speaking, work in DevOps is pivoting from pure data collection to designing better feedback loops. Teaching platforms what “normal” looks like, building this into CI/CD and managing solid audit trails will ameliorate multiple risks and satisfy compliance.
2027 and beyond
Into the future, it’s looking like more pure Platform/SRE role titles will supersede the generic “DevOps Engineer” in larger firms here, especially within Payment Processing and other highly regulated environments.
- DevSecOps becoming a given, Security-as-code and Policy-as-code will be in demand
- Embedded AIOps in Observability – linking with automation/change management. Those that can understand and govern this area will have a distinct advantage in the market
- Geographical Spread – already it’s apparent that AI and Cloud investment and expansion within FDI are less limited to Dublin than previously, good news especially if the current openness to hybrid work remains
When this comes to pass, it will lead to fewer senior generalist DevOps jobs with more value placed on defined platforms, SRE and DevSecOps plus AIOps is where we expect the most competent engineers to specialise in.
