Principal Engineer Production Environment – Dublin Hybrid onsite/WFH
 
IT Search has partnered with a well known Technology firm who is expanding their Production environment presence in Dublin and is looking to hire a Principal Engineer with ongoing deep level Development skills to work alongside a highly experienced team of Platform Specialists here and in the USA/Europe to maintain and improve/automate deployment of builds for their global architecture and scale cloud infrastructure.
 
Candidates should have

• Strong coding skills (e.g. Python, Golang)
• Solid Networking Experience – HTTP/DNS, PKI/TLS
• Operating Systems; Linux OS depth, kernel level discussions are part of the role

 
Experience across any of AWS, Azure, GCP and or proprietary cloud systems welcome but a key point is experience with significant traffic and a mix of build and hands on development (language agnostic, Python/Golang for instance). The role is Dublin based but with flexibility around WFH/onsite.
 
This role would suit a Senior SRE who has come from a programming background and is happy to remain hands on, even at a very senior level.
 
The role:

• Work with local and global teams to build significant traffic stacks (K8S)
• Design/deploy infrastructure surrounding observability
• Ongoing development of automation tools (within deployment/maintenance)
• Work to identify and avoid potential downtime bottlenecks, production issues etc.
• Take a leadership role on certain projects, managing engineers in a distributed fashion

 
Requirements:

• Strong development, networking systems and Linux knowledge
• 10+ years of post grad hands on commercial experience, including working in a global scale cloud infrastructure environment, deep IaC knowledge (Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation etc.)
• Strength in AWS, GCP or Azure, certifications preferred – provider agnostic
• High level of continuous hands on programming (and desire to remain in same), C++/Python/Go for example
• In depth Container Orchestration knowledge, Automation at Scale
