Engineering Manager

Job Details

Engineering Manager (Data)
Are you a technical leader who thrives on enabling team success while diving deep on architecture? Do you want to own mission-critical data systems, not just manage them?
We are a high-growth, remote-first SaaS leader in commerce intelligence. We’re seeking an Engineering Manager (Data) to lead the team responsible for our platform’s core—its data persistence, processing pipelines, and analytics.
This is a true player-coach role. We need a leader who can strategize with product managers and debug a PySpark job in the same hour. You will guide a senior team working with Python, PySpark, Pandas, FastAPI, and SQL/NoSQL databases on AWS.
The Impact You’ll Have:

  • Technical Leadership & Ownership: Architect, guide, and ensure the excellence of our core data infrastructure. Use your deep expertise in data engineering to review designs, troubleshoot production issues, and mentor the team on best practices with Python, PySpark, and cloud-native data systems.
  • Team Development & Agile Execution: Act as a servant leader and Scrum Master. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture where you’ll mentor engineers, define clear goals (OKRs), and drive agile processes that deliver predictable, high-value outcomes.
  • Business-Aligned Pragmatism: Partner closely with Product Management to translate business needs into technical strategy. You’ll balance architectural foresight with pragmatic delivery, ensuring we build scalable systems that solve real customer problems today.
  • Culture & Collaboration: Be a catalyst for positive team dynamics and cross-functional partnership. You’ll help shape an environment where engineers do their best work and grow their careers.

Who You Are:

  • A seasoned engineer with 10+ years of experience, including 3+ years managing software/data teams in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
  • A hands-on technical leader with recent, deep expertise in building and scaling data pipelines and services using Python, PySpark, Pandas, and AWS. You’re comfortable reviewing code, debugging complex issues, and guiding architectural decisions.
  • A proven people developer who excels at mentoring, giving clear feedback, and running effective agile ceremonies. You measure your success by the growth and output of your team.
  • A business-minded partner who is curious about the “why” behind the work. You enjoy collaborating with product and other stakeholders to ensure engineering efforts drive customer and business value.
  • A pragmatic and adaptable leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, navigating evolving priorities with a focus on delivering impact.
