IT Search has exclusively partnered with an Irish technology company to appoint an Embedded Software Manager to take ownership of a flagship embedded platform and help shape the next phase of product development.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining embedded firmware development with technical ownership, architecture decisions and mentoring a junior firmware engineer.
The Role
- Own the technical direction and firmware roadmap for a connected embedded platform
- Develop multi-threaded RTOS-based applications for resource-constrained systems
- Work with embedded communication protocols and cloud-connected IoT devices
- Support firmware architecture, code reviews and technical decision-making
- Mentor a junior firmware engineer while remaining hands-on
- Collaborate closely with hardware, software and cloud engineering teams
About You
- 8+ years’ experience in embedded software or firmware development
- Strong Embedded C development experience
- Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS or similar)
- Experience developing connected or IoT-based embedded products
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Modbus or similar
- Experience working with cloud-connected devices or telemetry platforms
- Previous technical leadership, mentoring or architecture experience
Experience with ESP32, wireless connectivity, OTA updates or industrial/energy applications would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
