Role Overview
The Managing Director will have full accountability for the leadership, growth, and profitability of a Personal Lines MGA operating across the Irish market. This is a hands-on, commercially driven role, responsible for scaling GWP, building distribution, strengthening insurer partnerships, and shaping the long-term strategy of the business.
You will lead the end-to-end MGA operation, balancing underwriting discipline with ambitious growth targets, while ensuring strong governance, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership

• Define and execute the MGA’s growth strategy across Motor and Home insurance portfolios
• Own full P&L responsibility, including GWP growth, profitability, and expense management
• Lead and develop senior leadership across underwriting, distribution, operations, and compliance
• Act as the senior external face of the business with insurers, brokers, regulators, and partners

Growth & Distribution

• Drive portfolio growth through broker, intermediary, affinity, and digital distribution channels
• Build and scale strategic partnerships across Ireland
• Identify and launch new products, markets, and distribution opportunities
• Oversee pricing, capacity negotiations, and insurer relationships

Underwriting & Operations

• Ensure strong underwriting governance, risk management, and portfolio performance
• Balance growth with loss ratio, retention, and claims outcomes
• Oversee operational scale-up, systems, and process efficiency
• Ensure compliance with local regulatory frameworks across European markets

Governance & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with the Board, investors, and capacity providers
• Ensure robust reporting, controls, and regulatory engagement
• Lead strategic planning, business cases, and investment decisions

Experience Required

• Proven senior leadership experience within a Personal Lines MGA or insurer
• Strong track record of scaling Motor and Home insurance portfolios in Europe/Ireland
• Demonstrated success growing GWP and profitability in competitive markets
• Deep understanding of underwriting, pricing, distribution, and insurer capacity models
• Experience operating across multiple European jurisdictions strongly preferred
• Comfortable in high-growth, entrepreneurial or scale-up environments
