Embedded Linux Engineer
Global Semiconductor Leader
Dublin (Hybrid)
Permanent | €75-80K + Bonus, Pension, Health Insurance, Share Options
IT Search is partnered with a global semiconductor company known for cutting-edge mixed-signal and embedded solutions across aerospace, industrial, and high-reliability sectors.
They’re looking for an Embedded Linux Engineer to join their FPGA division, working on low-level software development and upstreaming for custom RISC-V-based SoCs. This role focuses on Linux kernel internals, device drivers, and hypervisor integration for advanced embedded platforms.
You’ll work alongside silicon, hardware, and architecture teams to drive key Linux components from concept through deployment – owning your contributions end-to-end in a high-trust, engineering-led environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Developing and maintaining Linux kernel modules, device drivers, and bootloaders
- Integrating with hypervisors, implementing power management, and ensuring system-level reliability
- Supporting FPGA-based platforms (e.g. Xilinx Zynq) with custom board bring-up and SoC configuration
- Working across the full lifecycle: from design and prototyping to customer delivery
- Contributing to open-source codebases and aligning with upstream practices
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years’ experience in Embedded Linux development, particularly kernel-level
- Expertise in Linux internals, device trees, interrupt handling, and low-level debugging
- Hands-on experience with ARM or RISC-V SoCs
- Familiarity with FPGA platforms (Zynq or similar), bare-metal bring-up, and hardware/software integration
- Knowledge of hypervisors, PM domains, and open-source tooling/workflows
- Proactive, self-driven engineers who take ownership of challenging technical areas
This is a high-impact, system-level role where you’ll influence the design of next-gen embedded platforms. Hybrid setup (2–3 days onsite in Dublin) with competitive benefits and a salary of €75-80K + bonus, pension, health insurance, and share options.
