The Opportunity
We are looking for a sharp, technically-oriented Data Analyst to join a premier Fraud Detection and Security (FDS) team within the financial services sector. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an analyst who wants to specialise in the detection and prevention of digital fraud.
The position is designed for professional growth. You will initially focus on daily quality assurance (QA), metrics, and reporting. As you master the team’s mission and technical landscape, you will transition into a core investigative role, performing deep-dive fraud event analysis and identifying emerging threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Investigation: Analyse large datasets to identify abnormal behaviour, system abuse, and signatures of malware or fraudster techniques.
- QA & Metrics: Lead the daily quality assurance of fraud alerts to ensure consistency with procedures, creating daily, weekly, and monthly reports for senior stakeholders.
- Strategic Input: Recommend application-level solutions to prevent abuse and assist in implementing controls regarding new bank policies.
- Technical Research: Leverage your understanding of technical architecture and application design to research complex alerts and communicate the impact of identified issues.
Required Skills:
- Technical Analysis: Strong proficiency in data analytics and data aggregation tools with the ability to extract and interpret large, complex datasets.
- Security Mindset: Knowledgeable in common application security vulnerabilities and a keen interest in staying up-to-date with malware trends.
- Process Management: Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into clear business insights.
Highly Desirable:
- Splunk: Previous experience with Splunk (query language, data ingestion, and analysis) is a significant advantage.
- Development: Familiarity with web application development or common scripting languages.
- Security Tooling: Experience with SIEM, EDR, or Big Data platforms used for actioning threat intelligence.
